The humor is not for me and I find the gameplay too repetitive. I've only finished 2 (great game) and 3, but couldn't get through 0 and 7, which I tried recently. Yakuza series: Another fan favorite, another franchise I wanted to love, but nowadays I'm a little meh about it. Haven't touched the first one yet, maybe I should. I like the stealth approach and they play well. Enjoyed 2 (haven't finished though) and Legion. Watch Dogs series: They probably fit, right? Still kinda crime based, I guess. I'm still planning on giving it another shot eventually, I have it on Xbox and it's a fps boosted game so we'll see. I feel like I would enjoy the game much more if it was a shooter.
I don't like the simple hand to hand combat, I don't like the vehicle handling, and those are the two things you are going to be doing for most of the game. The story is promising up until I dropped the game, but there's something off about the gameplay to me. Sleeping Dogs: I know this is a cult classic to a lot of people but. The camera and aiming are just too slow to be enjoyable, had to rely on auto aim the whole game. Pretty good remake, but the gameplay on the Xbox is soooooo sluggish, slow as molasses. Also finished the Definitive Edition this week. I understand the hate the game got, but I liked enough to finish it once, which is allright in my book. Had they cut half the fat the game would be much more enjoyable. The gunplay is also solid as hell, but my god is it repetitive. I very much enjoyed, the story is a bonafide revenge story, very satisfying. The sequel is very solid too, but not as good as the original. Mafia series: The first one is a masterpiece in my book. Saints Row series: Haven't played much of it, only SR3, which I'm very much enjoying it, like I said.

The PSP spin offs were very fun as well, if a bit forgettable.

I like the more grounded direction, I like the realistic driving, Niko is one of the best protagonists in the series and the euphoria physics are still a joy to play around with, but the gameplay can feel very slow and sluggish, the gunplay is unimpressive and the mission design isn't as good as some of the other games (lots of "drive there, kill a bunch of guys). I think GTA V is far and away the best in the series, but San Andreas and Vice City are also great, even if they don't hold up very well nowadays. GTA series: All of the games had their time to shine. GTA with horses, sure, but they still fit in the category I think. Red Dead Redemption series: Love both games, especially the sequel, which is one of the best games ever made in my mind. The humor is not my style but still enjoyable, and the gunplay is pretty solid for a genre which tipically has shoddy gunplay (I'm looking at you, GTA).Īnyway, in my search for a game to play, it hit me how many good games we have in this genre.

Game is surprisingly great! Way more over the top than GTA, but every mission so far has been a delight, full of bombastic moments. Since Saints Row The Third Remastered was on sale, I grabbed to play one my Series S. So, with the whole GTA Trilogy fiasco, I started to have an itch for open world crime games.
